Dory Puglisi

November 15, 2010 — June 7, 2019

Dory Grace Puglisi, age 8, passed away on Friday June 7 th 2019 after a head-on collision in Tetonia, ID. Daughter of Lee H. Puglisi and Frankie Owens-Puglisi, sister of Gwen and Alex Puglisi, Dory was born in Florida but called Teton Valley home since she was an infant. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends, and was taken away from us way too soon. Dory loved her family, all her animals, and her friends. She was an avid reader and delighted in making beautiful artwork. She played baseball,  lacrosse, and soccer, and thrived in all three. Dory was truly an old soul that would not hurt a fly, probably because she detested them and ran as far from them as possible! She was sweet, kind, and loving. Dory was a stellar student and friend, and was excelling at school in the Dual Immersion program at Driggs Elementary.

Dory’s enthusiasm for the future was boundless. She was really looking forward to an amazing summer full of fun camps, playdates, art class, the library and the Makers Space. S he was also excited to meet her family on a trip to the UK, after not seeing them since she was just 6 months old. Dory was totally ready to become a third grader and was eager to go to the brand new Driggs Elementary School, currently under construction. Sadly, she will never see any of these things come to fruition, instead she will look down on us all from heaven. Our sweet and beautiful angel baby, Dory. We love you to the moon and back.

A public funeral will be held on Monday June 17 th at 12pm at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Driggs, with an open-casket viewing available starting at 11am. Following the service, Dory’s body will be laid to rest at Cedron Cemetery, and is open to anyone who would like to attend.  A memorial event and celebration of her amazing spirit is being planned for Monday evening that the entire community is invited to. We hope to see lots of kids at this event, reflecting back the joy that Dory emanated.  More details will be posted on Facebook soon.

Longer term, the Owens and Puglisi families will be planning some type of permanent memorial to Dory in the valley, and would appreciate any and all ideas, visions or contributions.
